Founded in 2017 and conceived by Sachin Shankor Mannath, Global Ghazal Project was created to carry forward the ghazal tradition while introducing its poetry, music and emotional depth to wider audiences.
Rooted in Hindustani music and the traditional aesthetics of ghazal singing, the ensemble places poetry at the centre. Voice, acoustic guitar, tabla, harmonium and keys create a contemporary acoustic setting without losing the melodic and emotional identity of the form.
